Common settings
For every type of Question you will have the following common settings:
Title |
Only shown to the Survey manager and is sometimes used in exports. End-users won't see Question titles |
Type | Shown for reference purpose. You can't change the Question type once you've chosen it in the Add question dialog |
External ID | |
Language bar | Allows to switch between available languages for the survey to provide multiple language-specific values with just one edit |
Question text | The actual text which is displayed to the survey respondent. HTML can be used for additional formatting. |
Error text |
When a Question is mandatory this text is shown when a customer doesn’t Answer and proceeds to the next Question or finishes the Survey. Error text is triggered, for example, in the following cases:
|
Question-specific settings
Depending on the Question type selected, different options become available.
Scalable
A customer is asked to select a value from a scale of values.
The following settings are available:
Render type |
Line: List: Dropdown/Select: |
Required | Sets the Required flag for Question. If Yes is selected a customer is required to Answer the Question. Otherwise, text from Error text is shown and the Answer elements are highlighted with red. |
Don't know option | If enabled, a new option called Don't know is shown for the end-user after the maximum value. It is an additional way to respond to the Question and it is also localized for each language. Currently it's not possible to change the label of Don't know Answer in the Question settings. |
Lowest value | Lowest value of the scale, e.g. "1" |
Lowest value name |
Alternative name of the lowest value of the scale, e.g. "Won't recommend". If nothing is specified then the lowest value itself is used as a name |
Highest value | Highest value of the scale, e.g. "10" |
Highest value name |
Alternative name of the highest value of the scale, e.g. "Highly recommend". If nothing is specified then the highest value itself is used as a name |
Number of values |
Total number of values. The value step depends on this setting: Example 1. You have a scale from 1 to 10 and you provide 10 as the number of values. Your scale will look like this: Example 2. You have a scale from 0 to 100 and you provide 6 as the number of values. Your scale will look like this: |
Configurable
A customer is asked to choose between a range of values from a configurable list. Items are not required to be numbers and might be a text string or any other supported HTML object.
The following additional fields and settings are available:
Answers consist of two parts and an option:
- Answer value is the value of the Answer which will be written to VoC Feedback and against which the Answer will be referenced by default (values in exports). Answer name is the user-facing and language-specific (you can specify different Answer names in different languages) value of the Answer which is displayed in the VoC Feedback Survey Answering system
-
Open is a special flag which allows the user to elaborate on their opinion. A text area is shown next to the Question in case the user selects an Answer with Open enabled. You cannot use Open if you select Dropdown/Select as Render type.

Delimiter
A Delimiter is used to deliver a simple text message. For example, a welcome or a farewell message. Additionally, the Delimiter Question type can be used as the top level container for grouped Questions.
Finish Survey
This is typically the last Question of a Survey. A farewell message can be displayed here. The status of the Questionnaire will be set to completed once this Question is reached.
Survey Redirect
You can provide an external link in Question text field.
When a customer is navigated to this Question they will be redirected to the provided external link in the same browser window. The status of the Questionnaire will remain as started until expiration date is reached and then will be set to partial.
Terminator
This Question type is identical to Finish Survey (or End Survey Question flow event) but uses a different status terminated instead of completed.
