Let us make a straightforward sentiment classifier with two categories: Positive and Negative.
To add a new Classifier, go to the VoC Classify Menu and select "Classifiers" from the menu list. Now, you will see the list of existing classifiers, go on top of the screen and click the button "Add new classifier set".
Enter the name for the classifier set, for example, "My First Classifier" and then click the plus button on the right side for entering the name of your classifier. This is a 1-level classifier so there is only a single classifier. For simplicity, you can name both the classifier set and the classifier the same; so let us name it again "My First Classifier".
Now you have to add your categories for the classifier. Click the "plus" button to add the classes. We will add "Positive" and then "Negative". Click the Save button when you are done.
Points of attention:
- Category names should be simple: it is strongly suggested not using extremely long sentences but short words without special signs. Please use just normal letters and numbers (a-z, A-Z, 0-9) for the category names (no special letters like é, à,…).
- Amount of categories: we suggest to keep the number of categories at maximum of 5-8 on the first level and use second levels to deep dive into specific categories.
- Categories names are case sensitive: "Price" is a different category from “price”. Be careful with spaces, “Customer care” does not equal to “Customer care”. Better not to use spaces. Use “_” instead, e.g. “Customer_Care”.
In the example shown in the picture above we have created a simple sentiment classifier with two categories: positive and negative. After saving, you can go back to the "List classifiers" on top of the screen to see the new classifier. Click the "View Details" to see a graphical overview of the classifier and its classes.
Once you have created your classifiers, you can manage them.
Go to Main menu and select Classifiers. This will open up the list of all classifiers.
You can see different icons next to each classifier. Here's what they mean:
|
Reprocess. This allows to force-restart classification process against VoC Feedback data or data uploaded from external sources. Useful when you're having issues with certain data not being classified either once or on an ongoing basis. |
|
Apply to surveys. This allows to apply current classifier to certain "Open" type questions in VoC Feedback. After the classifier is applied, you will see existing as well as new customer data from selected question(s) classified on the fly. Think of this as a way to "subscribe" for classification of certain open questions via certain classifier. |
|
Apply to external data. This works in the same way as "Apply to surveys" but in conjunction with "External Data Upload" functionality in VoC Mine. You can select from the list of "Open" type questions which were used in one or more Custom queries created in VoC Mine. Classification results are available in VoC Mine exports when "Classification results" option is selected during export. |
|
Rollback. Select this option to clear trainings done. You can rollback either to a certain date or clear all trainings. Rollback will delete some trainings so be careful! |
|
Verify accuracy. This option is available once you've used "ethalon classification" option |
|
View details of classifier and its tree structure |
|
Edit classifier tree structure |
|
Delete the classifier. This operation is destructive. Be careful! |
Importand reminder: after Classifier is created don't forget to apply it to needed sources (surveys or uploads) otherwise dashboards won't show classification results.
