Overview
VoC Feedback allows the user to set up custom exporters for surveys. Custom exporters allow to define the exact columns with exact data you want to export from surveys.
Custom exporters also allow to make sure the order of columns is the same each time you perform an export. This is not the case with Default exports.
To find out more about exporters and creating exporters please see here.
Custom Exporter Settings
The "Add Settings" button which appears in the bottom right of the window allows the user to add columns to the export file. Each time the "Add Settings" button is clicked, a new column will be added to the export file. Each row of values represents one column in the export file.
Title
Title defines the column name in the resulting export file and is user-defined. If the export files will be used to integrate with an internal system or existing data, then it is best practice to give a column a title that will be recognized by the destination system.
Type
Various type choices are available:
System Value | Value is taken from the VoC Feedback system. A drop-down list of all system values will appear in the Column input box to choose from. |
Import data value | Value of this field is taken directly from the import file which was sent to VoC Feedback. The exact spelling of the field name in the invite file is required in the column (i.e. third) text input box. |
Response by question external identifier |
This column will contain the responses for defined External ID from the survey you will export the data from. This option will work only if you supplied Question External ID previously in one of the questions. The external identifier needs to be input exactly as seen in the question edit page. Please note that you can select multiple surveys when adding exports to the queue and each question from those surveys which matches the External ID will be included in the resulting export file. Please also note that if you use the same External ID across multiple questions of the same survey then each captured answer for those questions will be separated with comma symbol (,) and empty responses will not be included. |
Predefined value | Sets a predefined value for all records in the current column in resulting export. For example, if you know that all records for an export will always be from the SMS channel, you could add the text SMS to this field. |
Response by question ID |
This column will contain the responses from end-users to the survey questions. Select this option if you want to use the question's ID as a source of data in the resulting export. Question ID is automatically generated by VoC Feedback for each individual question. Please note that this type will only work for one survey at a time since survey have unique question IDs. For more information about question ID please see here. |
Column
In the Column field you supply the source of data:
- For "System Value" a drop-down list is supplied. System values are generated by VoC Feedback.
- For all other types an text input box is supplied:
- Import data value: In this case you need to type the exact (case-sensitive) name of the column in the original import file which you want to carry into the export file
- Response by question external identifier: Exact question ID is required as provided in the question. Response by this ID will be included into the column
- Predefined value: "Column" in this case is the value for each row for the column being defined
- Response by question ID: Response by provided question ID will be included into the column
As noted above: the exact spelling of the field name - either a column name from the import file or a question (external) ID - is required in the column.
