What is Super Gadget?
Super Gadget is an advanced all-in-one solution which is aimed to replace the previous set of gadgets by providing a single unified, flexible and configurable user interface to connect, filter and display the survey data, be it a VoC Feedback survey or an external upload of data from another source.
Now with Super Gadget, you have a simpler way to get the data from more channels. You can then process this data with a flexible set of available filters and visualize it by selecting the chart type which most fits the purpose - all in one place.
A single unified UI simplifies a user interaction, is easier to learn and thus gives you more time to work with the data itself.
After you choose a gadget, it will appear as the last one on your current dashboard. You will be prompted asking to configure the gadget with the message “Please, configure gadget”.
You will see a modal window with your gadget’s settings when you click the link.
The very basic setting for every gadget is a source of data that will be fetched to build a chart. It can be from either VoC Feedback or VoC Store.
What charts can be built with Super Gadget?
Here is a list of charts types that can be built using Super Gadget:
- Bar chart;
- Stacked Bar chart;
- Table chart;
- Pie chart;
- Radar chart;
- World Cloud chart;
- Bubble chart (Impact Bubble chart);
- Line chart.
Super Gadget has some required settings called Basic and some optional Advanced settings. Let's take a look at both.
Here's an overview of Super Gadget's Basic Settings:
|Chart type||In this section you can select one of the available charts to build.|
|Select data||Data source you would like to use. You can filter the drop down to display all available data sources or choose between surveys/uploads by clicking on the icon on the left of the Select data field.|
|Select column||Choose a question or column against which a chart will be created.|
|Select Math function||
Here you can define math manipulations to apply to the chosen data. Depending on the chart type, source type and selected column, list of available math functions may vary.
|Group by||Using this setting you can choose how to group your results on a chart. You can group them by some metadata, date or classification results (if you have one applied to your data source). A list of available group options may vary depending on the data source type you’ve chosen.|
|2nd Group by||
This is a second “Group by” setting that allows you to add a rule for grouping your results. It works in the same way as the previous setting, excepting:
Here's an overview of Advanced settings for Super Gadget:
Allows using custom values from VoC Feedback surveys' and VoC Store Uploads' columns marked as [DATE] to filter data.
For an additional reference on how use Custom DATE functionality, please see this article.
|Period||Allows setting a timeframe using Absolute or Relative filter.|
|Show Score||Applicable only for Bar chart. When switched to Active - it will show the total amount of items that were counted for each bar.|
|Metadata filter||Allows you to filter your results by metadata in an “AND/OR” mode.|
|Custom Color Set||Custom Color Set allows applying one of the predefined color schemes to your gadget.|
An option that allows creating a child/nested drill-down dashboard.
Note: your gadget's Math function setting must be set to Count parameter in order for Drill Down to work. To get more reference on this function please follow the link.
An option that allows showing full sentences inside table columns, without being cut or be outside the column's borders.
Note: your gadget's Chart type must be set to Table chart in order for Word-wrap to be available and work.
An option that allows to filter and show only chosen questionnaire states. The filter allows selecting one or a few states at the same time.
Note: by default, the filter is set to show only Completed questionnaires.
|Show full date||
Allows displaying datestamps with hours, minutes and seconds.
Enabled: YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS
|Long labels||By enabling this option, gadget's legends will be displayed in their full length|
Using this setting allows you to show data for some specific time period. There are two filters available: Absolute and Relative.
Absolute allows setting a static time period (e.g. Last Month, from 1 to 31 May 2019), the Gadget will be always showing data for the setup timeframe, means from 1 to 31 May 2019.
Relative, on the other hand, allows setting custom timeframes, for example, "From 5 to 10 Weeks Ago". Moreover, using this filter makes Gadget's data change as time goes by.
For instance: you have applied a filter in January and used last month, so Gadget will show you results from December till February. However, after one month passes, the filter will shift date further and thus, will show you results from January to February.
AND/OR join condition allows you to get more precise filtering results. It can be used in case you want to work only with results that contain specific metadata values.
The behavior of this filter is easy to understand:
You need to select Fact, then select equality of the fact with some condition that corresponds with the fact. If you want to create another fact that will be an additional filter for your results, select AND condition. In this case, you will be shown only results that match the two filters combined.
If you choose OR condition while creating new fact, Super Gadget will display all results, that meet at least one of selected conditions.
For example, you decided to filter your results against certain language (e.g., English) and NPS Score (e.g., NPS Score > 6) at the same time. In order to achieve such results, you should do the following:
- Select Fact called "Language" in the first drop down;
- Set equality to "Equal" in the second one;
- Select value "en" (stands for English) in the third drop down;
- Click on the AND button (that means you want to create AND join condition;
- Select Fact called "NPS Score";
- Set equality to "Greater";
- Select value for the NPS score to be greater than (6 in our case).
- Click on the "Approve button"
After these simple manipulations, you will be displayed only those results that match both of these two conditions at the same time.
Own Email metadata
Starting from 10.8.0 it is possible to use import/upload variable <user_email> which allows assigning import/upload rows data to a particular agent that has an account within a VoC Hub instance. This feature was designed to be used in Super Gadget: when you select it in Metadata filter and then share the dashboard with someone, your colleague will be able to view only those results that were imported/uploaded with <user_email> variable that matches his/her email address used for entering your VoC Hub instance. In case there was no this user's email address in the import/upload file, the person you've shared the dashboard with won't see any results within a chart.
The Own email variable is displayed as a variable for all the metadata columns by design for better accessibility.
Every gadget has a toolbar that is located on the right side of the gadget's header.
Here's the list of the available toolbar options:
After the click, you will be prompted to select a new size for the gadget. There are four gadget sizes available:
With this tool, you can create a copy of your gadget. The copy will appear right next to the original gadget.
Note: if building a Table chart, you will be able to Copy to clipboard the whole data from it and to paste it to Excel file, if needed. However, there is a rare chance that data may not be copied. This is a known issue, with no workaround as for now, except trying to copy data from Gadget one more time.

Gadget's Look & Feel
Changing color for chart’s segments
You can select a color for any segment of your gadgets by clicking the right mouse button on the name of the segment or on the segment itself. After the right-click, a color palette will appear and you can adjust colors of the gadget segments according to your needs.
Note: There is also an option to choose one of predefined custom color sets for a Super Gadget. It is available on the Advanced Settings tab.
Please note: manual changes to segment's color won't be reset by applying a Custom Color Set, as manual modifications have higher priority by the system logic. It means, once modified, the segment couldn't be affected in any way, except manually entering the needed color. Also, copying the Gadget will transfer segment's manual color changes to the copy.
Renaming chart's components
In order to rename chart's components you need to click the button (where applicable).
If you want to rename chart's legend, you should left-click on it and save your changes.
